Medical Disclaimer

Last updated: May 26, 2026

IMPORTANT: This disclaimer governs your use of VetCalc. By using the App you acknowledge and accept the terms below. If you do not accept these terms, do not use the App.

1. Intended Users

VetCalc is intended exclusively for licensed veterinary professionals (DVM, VMD, or equivalent) and qualified veterinary support staff acting under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian.

2. Reference Tool, Not a Medical Device

VetCalc is a reference and calculation aid only. It is NOT a medical device under the U.S. Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (21 U.S.C. § 321(h)), nor under any equivalent veterinary medical device regulation in any jurisdiction. The App is not cleared, approved, certified, or registered by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the European Medicines Agency (EMA), Health Canada, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), or any other regulatory authority.

The App is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, or prevent any disease in animals or humans.

3. Clinical Judgment Remains With the Veterinarian

All clinical decisions — including drug selection, dose calculation, administration route, fluid therapy, anesthetic protocol, and treatment planning — are the sole responsibility of the attending licensed veterinarian. The App's output is a starting reference value only.

Before any clinical application, the user must independently verify all calculations against authoritative sources, including but not limited to:

4. Calculations May Contain Errors

While reasonable care has been taken in developing the App, calculations may contain errors or may not reflect the most current data. Drug concentrations, formulations, dosing recommendations, and clinical guidelines change over time. The user is solely responsible for confirming the accuracy of any value before clinical use.

The Operator makes no warranty, express or implied, including no warranty of accuracy, completeness, currentness, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

5. Patient-Specific Adjustments Required

The App's calculations are generic and do not account for individual patient factors that may require dose adjustment, including:

The attending veterinarian is responsible for adjusting any calculated value to reflect the individual patient's clinical status.

6. Assumption of Risk and Limitation of Liability

The user assumes all risk arising from use of the App. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Operator shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages — including but not limited to harm to animals, professional liability claims, financial loss, or loss of professional reputation — arising from use of, or inability to use, the App.

For full terms of warranty disclaimer and liability limitation, see the Terms of Service.

7. Emergency Situations

In an emergency, do not rely on the App as a primary decision-making tool. Use peer-reviewed emergency protocols and consult with an emergency veterinary specialist.

8. Reporting Errors

If you identify a calculation error or any inaccuracy in the App, please report it immediately to spvetsurgeryns@scopyandport.com so we can investigate and correct it. Reporting an error does not transfer clinical responsibility from the attending veterinarian to the Operator.

9. Acknowledgment

By using VetCalc, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Medical Disclaimer, the Terms of Service, and the Privacy Policy.
