The App's calculations are based on widely used veterinary clinical references, including Plumb's Veterinary Drug Handbook, the BSAVA Manual, NRC guidelines, the ISFM consensus statements, and RECOVER guidelines. That said, results are reference values only — final dosing decisions remain the clinical responsibility of the attending veterinarian.

Open the ⚙️ icon (top right) on the Anesthesia Protocol screen to access "Drug Settings," where you can customize each drug's dose range, preset doses, and concentration to match your clinic's formulary. Settings are saved on your device and persist across app launches.

Your calculations, case data, and records are all stored in local storage on your device. Data is sent to our servers only in the following cases:

• Facility Sharing, when you explicitly upload (an optional feature — nothing is sent if you don't use it)
• Anonymous usage statistics, when you turn them on (off by default; only aggregated counts such as screen views — no identifiers, calculation input, or case data)
• Desktop license check (only the first 8 characters of the license code body, to confirm the subscription is active; the app keeps working offline)

In addition, two actions initiated entirely by you send data to a destination you choose: DICOM transfer (sending to a PACS server you configure) and backup export (writing a file). The desktop version also connects to GitHub to check for updates. See our Privacy Policy for details.

The core calculation and record-keeping features of VetCalc remain completely free with no ads. Some features (creating anesthesia records, exporting/sharing CRI cases, adding occlusion timers, facility sharing, and unlocking the desktop app for Mac / Windows) require "VetCalc Pro" (an auto-renewing monthly subscription; the price for your region is shown on the purchase screen in the app; new subscribers may get a free first month). You can cancel any time, and you'll keep Pro access through the end of your current paid period.

If you previously purchased "Unlock Desktop & Support" (one-time purchase), you continue to get the same Pro-tier features at no additional cost.

The core calculators and tools (Calorie, Transfusion, CRI, BSA, CPR, Crash Mode, Urine Output Monitor, Anesthesia Protocol, WBC differential, CT contrast, Chocolate Toxicity, Osmolality, DICOM transfer, and more) remain free and unrestricted.

The desktop version (Mac / Windows) can be downloaded for free from our official site, but it requires a license code to launch. On the iOS / Android app, after subscribing to VetCalc Pro (or if you previously purchased "Unlock Desktop & Support"), go to "Get Desktop License" on the home screen to obtain your code, then enter it in the desktop app (the same code works for both Mac and Windows). The desktop version has no ads or in-app purchases, and it checks for updates automatically. Note: the Windows build is not currently code-signed, so you may see a SmartScreen warning on first launch — choose "More info" → "Run anyway" to continue.

Tap "Restore Purchases" at the bottom of the home screen. This works as long as you're signed in with the same Apple ID (iOS) or Google account (Android) you originally purchased or subscribed with — useful after a device change or reinstall.

Cancel: You can cancel VetCalc Pro (the monthly subscription) at any time from Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions on iOS, or Google Play → Payments & subscriptions on Android. After cancelling, you'll keep Pro access through the end of your current paid period.

Refunds: Refunds must be requested through the app store you purchased from.

iPhone / iPad: Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, choose "Report a Problem," select the purchase, and request a refund.

Android: Open the Google Play Store app → "Help & feedback" → "Request a refund" (or see Google Play support).

Yes. It follows your device's display setting (Settings → Display & Brightness) automatically.

On the Anesthesia Protocol screen, tap the "🖨 Print" button to open a clean printable view and your device's standard print dialog. On iOS, print to any AirPrint-compatible printer; on Android, use Google Cloud Print or your printer manufacturer's app, or choose "Save as PDF" to export a PDF file.
